Yesterday’s episode was one I’ve been anticipating for a long while! We all know how observant Kyo is with Tohru, but let’s talk about how observant Yuki is with the both of them. He notices Kyo’s and Tohru’s feelings for each other before even THEY do. He knows that when Kyo tells Akito he doesn’t like Tohru and how Akito spins it to say Kyo hates Tohru that it’s a load of crap. He’s pushing Kyo to be better. He’s pestering him into taking proper care of Tohru. And, when Tohru gets slightly unnerved by another girl confessing her feelings to Kyo, Yuki quickly and reassuringly says, “Don’t worry. He won’t accept.” (“He won’t be swayed” in the manga which is just as powerful, if not more). When Kyo tells Tohru what happened was none of her business, Yuki shuts him the fuck up! Like, for someone pretty sick of Kyo’s shit, Yuki is still the biggest ride or die mvp in my book. But then we have the most important moment of all in my wild opinion: Tohru’s feelings coming further into light. She’s beginning to realize them now. She’s noticing that his given support for having feelings for other people hurt just as much as when he told her to mind her business. She’s noticing she’s afraid of losing him, absentmindedly chasing after him to grab hold when he walks away. She’s noticing that she feels something when he holds her hand and gives her reassurance. More so, she notices that he can unsettle her and make her happy with the smallest of gestures or statements. I was specifically waiting for this episode BECAUSE of the littlest moments included that undoubtedly build from here on out throughout the remainder of the series. Kyo saying he doesn’t have to be nice to people he’s not interested in but going soft for Tohru and Tohru only. Tohru realizing something hits different when it comes to Kyo, his actions, and his words. On top of that, the leaf Yuki gifted to Machi. The way she holds it over her head. Buckle your seatbelts, folks, it’s about to be a bumpy ride.
